*sigh*

I’m not going to argue with the rest of it, but normal people actually did contribute to the stock market crash. Surely, financial institutions are to blame for offering sub-prime loans, but so are people who took the fucking loans that they’d know they were going to default on if they had a shred of financial responsibility. Also, 410(k)s only exist because of… the stock market. And isn’t that actually the problem? You’re pissed because your savings were lost because you chose to put them away (so you could avoid income tax) in an unstable, imaginary entity that’s the purest expression of free market capitalism… and now you’re blaming corrupt capitalists for it?
Why don’t you throw some Rage Against the fuckin’ Machine on the Bose (tm) stereo you bought on Black Friday and are still paying off (not you, Alt, but a large swath of N. Americans who are all giddy about this macro).
That’s not to say that there isn’t disproportionate blame that can be placed on corporate America, but this seems to suggest people were helpless pawns, when they were, sort of just blissfully ignorant pawns.

Great analysis. There’s plenty of blame to go around, but some deserve more than others.
