Traffic signals for the color-blind. (via Traffic signals for the colorblind – Boing Boing)

My dad’s color blind (can’t see green or red) and when I was growing up, I asked how did he know when to stop or go. His response was simple. “Stop on top, go on the bottom.”
We really don’t need different shapes - it’s universal for Stop to be on Top, Slow Down (or speed up depending where you live) to be in the middle, and Go to be on the bottom.

It should be noted, this particular set of lights is sideways, has no top, and has no bottom. So… what do you mean by universal?

Well, goes to show how much I know. Also goes to show that I grew up in an area that didn’t have flashing lights.
